Freelance CIA operative Avery is in Venezuela to pave the way for a special ops raid when a new threat emerges.
Lethal and highly motivated, the Viper is South America’s deadliest terrorist. Armed with one of the world’s most advanced weapons, the Viper now sets out on an obsessive personal mission of revenge against the United States that has the potential to kill thousands and cause untold economic devastation.
Working alongside DEA agents, NSA cyber-trackers, and Colombian soldiers, Avery is tasked with locating and terminating the Viper. Standing in his way are FARC insurgents, narco-traffickers, and an old enemy.
Avery will pursue his quarry from terrorist camps hidden deep inside the tropical rain forest, to the luxury hotels of Panama City, to Colombia’s most notoriously brutal prison, through the slums of gang-infested cities, and to the drug smuggling routes beneath the US-Mexican border for a final, violent confrontation.

This is the second book by this author that I have read. Like that of "Scorpion: A Covert Ops Novel", which was the first book (of which I did a review as well), this book kept me glued from page one to page last.I use the word "thread" as a means of explaining whether I need to re-read pages of a book to remember where I left off after putting it down for whatever reason. This book, like that of its predecessor, did not break any "thread" in my recollection, for the reason I stated above.
I want to be careful here, because I do not re-tell story lines in my reviews, I also carefully avoid **spoiler alerts** as a matter of course. Suffice it to say that if you liked " Scorpion,....", you will also like this book. If you have not read "Scorpion...", I'd recommend reading it prior to reading this one. Not because "Viper" is a sequel. It is not. Each is a stand alone story. But only because "Scorpion" gives a good introduction into the character of the chief protagonist, Avery, who is also the chief protagonist in "Viper" as well.
I like to cover such subjects as: plot, settings, theme, and characters in my reviews, and need only say that this book, like that of the other, has all subjects covered very well.
This book, unlike "Scorpion..." is more a "cat and mouse" tale than a covert ops read. Again, I want to be careful to not expose the story line, but suffice it to say, the chase is very well done. Even to the point where protagonist and antagonist change roles in several instances. That exchange of roles made for a most interesting read throughout.
I well recommend both books to any reader that likes covert ops and in this case, a thriller of a different sort, but no less interesting. I will be definitely looking for more reads from this writer.

Viper scorpion series Book 2 edition by Ross Sidor Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
RS has written an excellent example of out of country operations against drug smugglers. Then you throw in a couple of assassin's and the action is never-ending.....ER
A pretty fast read. Author develops both the good guys and the bad guys. Worth the time to read.
This book starts off with a James Bindian hero and a worthy villainess. There are the expected battles and setbacks, all well done. The plot and action keeps going. You won't be bored!
My first book by Ross Sidor, Very good amount of action and Avery, the Carnivore, gave as good as he got. I liked how he could think fast on his feet in all the situations he found himself in.
Looking forward to further adventures with him. Thanks, Ross for a knowledgeable and fast moving thriller. Sincerely, Amarillo Turtle
Another off the books black ops mission for Carnivore and his team. There is fast paced action, inter and intra agency politics and no holds barred rules of engagement against the Latin American terrorists and their drug cartel allies in this Book two storyline. The outcome leaves the reader hanging but nonetheless I look forward to reading Book three.
Overall it was a good story, only problem I had is it got bogged down in details when setting up scenes I really dont need to know every single detail and brand name of every weapon that every character uses. It ened up getting distracting from the actual plot
Good plot, but really poor editing,Why an author goes to the trouble of getting the weapons and equipment right and obviously researches the geo-political situation but then uses poor English and Grammar is something that appears to be common in "Action " books and I find it very distracting. If he cleans up his writing skills then I think that he could turn out a much better product.
